Munich, lake constance fuessen neuschwanstein ulm cathedral ottobeuren basilica monastery oktoberfest oktober festival

Our recommendations for day trips:
The Buddhist forest monastery "Metta Vihara", is located in the middle of foothills to the Allgaeu alps at an altitude of around 1000 meters. This translates as: the "abode of loving kindness". In the course of the year numerous meditation courses are offered for beginners and those with experience. The courses are given by experienced teachers from various Buddhist directions, but especially by long standing students of Ayya Khema.

Munich is not only to be equated with the Oktoberfest, the Bavarian metropolis invites you to the English Garden in summer and on rainy or long winter days to the German Museum.

Among the numerous Bavarian lakes it is the Ammer Lake in particular that we recommend. You can cycle around it by bike; you can take a boat trip with a steam ship to Andechs Monastery.

You can enjoy a snack in traditional Bavarian beer gardens under shady trees or enjoy the peacefulness of the lake on a sailing tour.

There is hardly any other region so richly endowed with special powers like Allgaeu. Magical places our forefathers already established as places of worship are there to be discovered: from nemetons to Christian chapels and pilgrimage churches to sites of natural beauty. Get to know the mystical sites Allgaeu has to offer.

Ulm Cathedral – the highest church tower in the world and the tourist centre of the city. A few steps away discover the fish/tanner quarter – since the end of the seventies this historic craftsmen’s quarter has been lovingly restored. A stroll and a cosy stop-over is almost a must.

Linderhof, Herrenchiemsee, Neuschwanstein – these three castles were built by King Ludwig II. in Bavaria. And he needed pots of money to realise his dreams.

A true dream castle in an idyllic location – Neuschwanstein is a castle as taken from a picture book. It is to here Ludwig II. wanted to retreat from the outside world, to his Gralsburg, where he was able to wander on the trail of Parsifal and Lohengrin.

Wieskirche Steingaden is one of the world’s most famous rococo churches. It has belonged to the UNESCO world cultural heritage since 1983. The Wieskirche invites us to look around, to admire, to pray, to attend masses, to listen to one of the concerts in summer and last but not least it invites us to quietly contemplate, to encounter God.

Legoland in the Bavarian city of Günzburg is the newest Legoland. The 43.5 hectare park was opened in 2002. Along with the artistically demanding Lego landscapes there are numerous interesting game attractions for children.
